11:46PM - Blah blah blah shakes hands with ha ha ha.

Fuck this and fuck your perverse bullshit logic.

And, watch a video.

Seriously, you can yell into the void all you want, but some people just don't want to hear anything. Let me just say that I consider each and every person responsible for the mediation of their own happiness. It's not anyone else's responsibility to call the shots on what is good or bad for you.

(You can blog into the void though, and thank fuck for that.)

10:26AM - Doesn't it suck when...

...overhyped trendy bands turn out to be pretty good?

9:11PM

This Paul Baribeau record channels all the positivity I wish I could find it in myself to trust, and the raw acerbic truth I feel embarrassed to try and write down. It's really cool when music gets to you like that.

15 year old me would really like this record. Not sure about anything else though, guy'd be pretty hard on the life i've got. I was a judgmental little fucker, i'm still learning how to break that.

12:16AM - "getting down"

...it has two meanings. I crave more of the other.

Seems you don't grow out of pointless moodiness any more than you do of writing about it in your stupid blog.

1:57AM

Holy fuck.

Why do people sometimes just die with 3 weeks notice? Anyone, let alone that guy? And 10 years before I'd ever wise on, either. So it goes I guess.

1:30AM

Alright fine, 18 weeks, I don't even care. So I got a job and some people left my life, some people came in too. I joined a band as a lark, that band started huge and stayed that way. The music I make that I really care about continues to hover pointlessly like a bad smell. 3 more join the bad smell party for album rehearsals starting tomorrow. I work a lot and buy gear. Mark Kozelek is this Thursday. And because i'm shit, Friday and Saturday and Sunday too. Anyone in Sydney or Melbourne these days? Me too, this weekend.

"the blogging compulsion". Unhealthy.

They remastered the Bon Iver album for commercial release. I'm listening to it on Lucy's laptop, she has the real label version. I must've played that album at least 200 times since I got it. And now it sounds different and my autism is responding poorly.

12:13AM

Some dudes embark on real deal, booking agent, big crowd kinda tours. They go and they rock the fuck out.

I am getting up in 5 hours for not that purpose. Me and Lucy will drive down to Melbourne, hang out a bit. Hopefully record or something, we'll see. I'm just glad to be clearing out of town - I am being optimistic about it helping me to clear out my head as well. If you are in Newcastle or Sydney or Canberra or Melbourne, i'm around shortly...

7:50PM

You know, the past couple of days has been a real highlight, life-wise. Road-tripped down to Byron/Bangalow with Julian, Lucy, Maddy and Gel. Half the people i'd consider friends were down there too. We all saw Joanna Newsom and Andrew Bird and Jens Lekman in that tiny hall. So did Billy Bragg. He just came to hang out. I met him and it was exceptionally surreal. I couldn't guarantee you that I didn't come across like a complete moron.

He is playing around the corner tonight - i'm still in Byron. I faked being foreign to use free backpackers internet. Win.

Dear Chris Corsano,

Despite what anyone may try and tell me, I now believe that YOU made the world in 7 days etc. Because if you play the drums like that, it must be true.

Ben Frost was really disappointing.

Caribou were great last night, but the Warhol exhibit really left me unmoved. Oh well, every arts student in greater Queensland has probably made it financially worthwhile...

2:51AM

Seeing The National tonight after Low last night was exceptional. What a paring. I didn't realize how much the songs off Alligator had seeped into my consciousness til it became clear that I knew every word, beat and riff. I had a good time in spite of the complete miserable fuckwits determined to drink their way onto my killspree list.

I got abused for my band for the first time. I asked some guy REALLY nicely to please stop being a bastard, and he replied with "OOOOH, MR LETS NOT BUT SAY WE DID, WHATEVER!" It was special.

I saw Cloverfield today, and Darjeeling Limited yesterday. Very polar opposite experiences in every way. For Darjeeling, I took a leisurely bus trip to Hawthorne, strolled across the park, and watched the film in those tiny cinemas with the minute little screens. Today, I rushed into South Bank, and into the 25-meter-screen mega-plex. Not that either experience was better. Just different. Movies by myself has been interesting.

Low was absolutely incredible, definite top 5 list writing fodder. Starfire? I mean c'mon...

6:05PM

So they redid the big day out timetable, making Arcade Fire, Billy Bragg and Battles all clash. Vindicates selling my ticket to the Nth degree. Low tomorrow night, National on Thursday, Ben Frost on Saturday, Bangalow on monday and Billy Bragg in byron on Tuesday. Yes.

2:54AM

Oh, and cos Kurt did one - My favourite albums of 2007 probably included For Emma Forever Ago by Bon Iver, I Was Submerged by Tulsa, Little Hours by Spokane, Pink In The Sink by Novi Split, Pikelet by Pikelet, War Elephant by Deer Tick, New Moon by Elliott Smith, probably some others. Heroes and Lost both got watched. I probably saw some movies too but I'm not the best at remembering them. And I read so much achewood that my social life suffered direly. Still okay with that.

2:49AM

forgot to write last night after I saw Sufjan. I did. Pikelet was amazing opening, and he was pretty amazing too, though not without noticeable faults blah blah. Did like the horns, and the last two songs were a very pretty paring.

Tonight Willows and To The North played at Rosies, and I had a good time being less manly than everyone as usual. I am listening to the Misfits because that's what sort of a night it is.

3:57AM

5 people play in my band now.

Having Carl playing bass has made me listen to the Purplene LP properly, and sirs, I do not look forward to eating all of my words when I have to tell him and Simon how much I really seem to like it nowadays.

8:05PM

I played a show and people talked through it. That happens a lot: I wonder if I can affect it any. Bigstrongbrute were amazing though.

The Bon Iver radio session is incredible too. In. Credible.

3:46AM

Not sleeping lately and work til 9 meant I skipped Buck 65, went straight to the Rialto launch at the Troub. Pissed that I missed most of Dollface. Went over to Rics where Turnpike were brilliant. They always are. Rialto were on fire, and i'm glad I ended up there.

I just got off the phone. I'm sick of these calls. But hell, that's not concert related.
